Night curfew in Bangladesh lifted

Bangladesh authorities withdrew the six hours night curfew in Bangladesh yesterday, said an official from Home Ministry. The curfew was imposed from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am following declaration of a state of emergency by the president on Thursday.The curfew was ended at 5:00pm Friday, said a police official.

Meanwhile, the Awami League led mega combine yesterday withdrew all their action programs including planned siege, blockage and countrywide strike.

This decision of mega combine came out following the resignation of Bangladesh president Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed from the office of the Chief Adviser to the caretaker government.

The Awami League led mega combine rapidly demanded president Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed to resign from Chief Adviser to the caretaker government and to postpone the election date to correct voter lists.

Dr Fakhru ddin Ahmed, a former governor of the Bangladesh Bank, assumed yesterday the office of chief adviser to non-party caretaker government of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) yesterday suspended all activities regarding holding the parliamentary election on January 22. #
