Six Arrested for Burmese Refugee's Murder in Bangladesh

Bangladesh police arrested six people Tuesday suspected of involvement in the killing of a Burmese refugee from the Nayapara refugee camp in Teknaf Township, Bangladesh.

Thee arrestees, led by Mano Mia, allegedly killed a Burmese refugee on the night of January 6, when he was attending a bridal party in Teknaf, opposite Burma's western town of Maungdaw.

A source said the victim was identified as Habib Ulha, the 24-year old son of the late Bachchu Mia of Nayapara Burmese Muslim refugee camp.

Habib died on the way to Teknaf hospital after he was attacked by a group of assailants.

A police team from Teknaf later recovered his body on the road and sent it to Teknaf hospital for an autopsy. There have been no details as to whether or not the alleged assailants in police custody are Burmese or Bangladeshi. #
